Whitney Houston’s Comeback single
She may have been away for a while, but she never left. Whitney Houston is back.
The diva is making her comeback. A song entitled “Like I Never Left” has reportedly leaked to the internet this last couple weeks. It’s her first single since 2003’s “One Wish (for Christmas)”.
Houston got herself into so much trouble, from her abusive marriage to singer Bobby Brown, their divorce, to long journey of drugs rehabilitation. The legendary “I Will Always Love You” singer underwent two drug rehab programs in 2005 and 2006. After a successful second program in 2006, Houston divorced Brown, her husband since 1992, and gained custody of their only daughter, Bobbi Kristina. “The Voice” has set her foot slowly back on solid ground.
In March 2007, Clive Davis, Houston’s close friend and mentor, announced that the singer would be heading in to the studio to record her first studio album in 4 years. Producers of the album include will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, Ne-Yo, and John Legend among others. This will be her 7th studio album, and planned to be released in November 2008.
“Like I Never Left” is a love song featuring hip hop singer Akon, who also produced the song, and the lyrics couldn’t be more perfect for her return to recording. In one verse from the three-minute, 39-second cut, Houston coos, “Yes, your girl is coming back”.
The single definitely speaks for itself. Welcome back!!
