On Thursday, one of the legendary actresses of Hollywood, Elizabeth Taylor was hospitalized for an undisclosed condition, but doing well and expected to return home soon, as confirmed by her rep denying newspapers reports that she was in poor health.
A statement released by her Los Angeles-based publicist, Dick Guttman said, “Miss Taylor is fine. The rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels”. He later added that he had no further details about Taylor’s health or whereabouts.
This 76-year-old Oscar-winning actress had been reported several times with deteriorated health issues. She was once had congestive heart failure in 2004 that, compounded with spinal fractures and the effects of scoliosis, left her nearly bedridden.
She’s also battled ulcers, amoebic dysentery, bursitis, acute bronchitis, two serious bouts of pneumonia, drug and alcohol addiction and a benign brain tumor that was removed in 1997. National Enquirer tabloid once reported that Taylor was put on a life-support machine after suffering congestive heart failure. In 2006, the lavender-eyed beauty appeared on US television to deny rumours she had Alzheimer’s.
Taylor won Oscars for best actress in 1966’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and 1960’s “Butterfield 8.” She was nominated for Oscars three other times, and she also won a special Oscar, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, mainly for her work as an AIDS activist, in 1993. As an avid AIDS activist, Taylor had done many things to support the cause. Her performance of “Love Letters” in December generated more than $1 million for AIDS research.
Hopefully everything will be okay. Stay healthy Madame Liz!
