Morgan Freeman Injured in a Car Crash

Charismatic actor, Morgan Freeman, was injured in an accident on Sunday night, and was in serious condition, but reportedly will be okay.

The accident happened when he and his friend riding in a 1997 Nissan Maxima, it’s already dark, and the vehicle went off the shoulder of the road and flipped over a few times. The car then landed upright in a ditch alongside Mississippi Highway 32, about 5 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman owns a home with his wife.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman, Sgt. Ben Williams, said that rescuers had to use the jaws of life to remove Freeman from the car. Also confirmed that the passenger in the car was a female, named Demaris Meyer, and the car was hers. “There’s no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved,” Williams added. ‘The Dark Knight’ actor was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., about 90 miles north of the accident in rural Tallahatchie County.

The Charleston Sun Sentinel reporer Clay McFerrin, who arrived at the scene soon after the accident happened, believes Freeman’s car was airborne when it left the road and dropped eight to ten feet into a ditch. He says the 71-year-old actor was conscious and joking with the rescuer and even said to one on-looker trying to get a picture of him with a cell phone camera that there are “no freebies.”

Freeman’s publicist, Donna Lee, speaking out about his condition, “Morgan has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits when I spoke with him a short time ago at the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center at The MED, a Level 1 Trauma Center at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage. He says he’ll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery”.

Freeman is a great and highly respectable actor who already involved in many successful movies, from true story inspired ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, comedy ‘Evan Almighty’, ‘Seven’, ‘Wanted’ with Angelina Jolie, and his latest is ‘The Dark Knight’, playing as Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne’s business manager. He once won an Oscar for his role in Clint Eastwood’s “Million Dollar Baby”.
