Ewan McGregor’s Recovery From Skin Cancer

The young Obi-Wan Kenobi in star Wars trilogy, Ewan McGregor, is now on recovery process from skin cancer. He had a cancerous mole removed from underneath his right eye, and feeling “fine” now.

The Scottish actor, 37, was promoting his latest film, the sex thriller “Deception”, when discussing about his health issue. “You have to be careful if you’re pale-skinned and spend any time in the sun,” McGregor said. “I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed, and indeed he was correct.”

Awareness about skin cancer has developed rapidly nowadays. As dermatologists have increasingly warned, using a strong sunscreen is vital to survival. The American Cancer Society estimates that this year alone, there will be 62,480 new cases of melanoma in the U.S. The disease will also claim the lives of about 8,420 people in 2008.

Remember to use sunscreen in your everyday activities, people!! Hopefully Ewan’s case could be a great example and as a precaution to us all. it’s always better to prevent than to cure, right?!
