Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Are Officially Married!

Ellen and Portia Finally Married

Famous TV presenter, Ellen DeGeneres officially tied the knot with her longtime girlfriend actress Portia de Rossi. On Saturday night, the couple have become a pioneer to be legally wed, since California ended a ban on same-sex marriage about three months ago.

The pair’s spokeperson stated that “Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married tonight in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.” 50-year-old DeGeneres and 35-year-old de Rossi were married before 19 guests including DeGeneres’ mom, Betty, and de Rossi’s mother, Margaret Rogers, who had flown in from Australia.

Both wore Zac Posen and exchanged rings by Neil Lane during the ceremony, also featured flower arrangements by L.A. florist Mark’s Garden.

After the California Supreme Court’s ruling in May, the talk-show host announced that she and de Rossi would wed after four years together. DeGeneres announced her plans to wed “Ally McBeal” star during a taping of DeGeneres’ talk show. And then when the pair attended the Daytime Emmy Awards together -where DeGeneres got her fourth consecutive award-, de Rossi showed off a 3-carat diamond ring set on a pink pavé band DeGeneres presented to her for their upcoming nuptials.

“She’s taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I’ve taught her”. DeGeneres said of de Rossi last year. “We’ve both changed and grown, and we just feel like, ‘Oh, okay, this is completion’”.

Lots of fellow celebrities give their best wishes for the newlyweds, one of them is Katherine Heigl, star of “Grey’s Anatomy”. “One of my favorite people of all time is Ms. Ellen DeGeneres,” said Heigl.

“So I wish all the best, all the happiness, all the joy that comes with that certificate … just the joy of being able to stand up and say that. In front of everyone you love and care about in front of each other and to walk away legal is huge.”
