Lance Armstrong
The champ is back!
Lance Armstrong apparently cannot resist the temptation to get back on what he does best, cycling. The 36-year-old athlete has confirmed his return to the cycling world, through a video blog posted on Tuesday.
As he announced on the video, “After long talks with my kids, the rest of my family and a close group of friends, I have decided to return to professional cycling in 2009.” He also said that he’s making his professional comeback in conjunction with a new effort to raise awareness of the “global cancer burden”. As a cancer survivor, Armstrong said in a statement, “It’s now time to address cancer on a global level”.
The announcement comes after speculation that Armstrong would return to the Tour de France. The seven-time winner from 1999 to 2005 of Tour de France, announced his comeback with the goal of winning the 2009 Tour de France, and -a big chance- making another winning record.
Armstrong will announce more details about his cycling program and his international LIVESTRONG strategy on Sept. 24 at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York.
Glad to have you back Armstrong! Livestrong!
