Jessica Simpson
Newborn country singer, Jessica Simpson must be happy that she didn’t make the wrong choice switching to country music.
That’s because her latest album (and her first country album) “Do You Know,” debuted at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The new album also took the No. 4 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
This 28-year-old blonde beauty is excited that the fans are now embracing her as a country newcomer. She responded, “I’m extremely touched by the overwhelmingly positive response to the album,” then added, “There is so much honesty and raw emotion in there. And, I’m just thrilled that country fans are giving it a chance!”.
After her “A Public Affair” album, Simpson repeatedly said about go back to her roots and singing country. She finally took the path, releasing the debut single “Come On Over” on May 27. The video for the song premiered on Simpson’s official website in July 2008. It received positive reviews, and also made chart history by becoming the first debut country single by a solo artist to debut on the country chart at #41 and made its highest peak at #18.
With her country album on process, she got support from her family and others. Songwriter Brett James agreed to produce the album, along with John Shanks. Simpson also worked with country diva Dolly Parton, recording a duet that became the title of the album. “Do You Know” album was released on September 9, 2008. Next step, Jessica’s second single, “Remember That”, will be released in October.
