Oprah Winfrey Had Agreed to Guest-Star on “30 Rock”

Talkshow host queen, Oprah Winfrey is ready to enter the world of acting once again. Oprah is set to join “30 Rock” cast as she had agreed to guest-star on the funny series, following her friend, Jennifer Aniston’s footsteps earlier.

NBC, the network of the series, announced Thursday that Miss Winfrey will guest-star on the Nov. 6 episode of Emmy-winning sitcom 30 Rock. She already filmed her role last Saturday at the Silvercup Studios in Queens, N.Y., and it is being billed as one-shot appearance.

Executive vice president of NBC Entertainment, Teri Weinberg said in a statement, “Oprah Winfrey’s presence on 30 Rock makes this episode a television event. She is a true legend in her own time, and in this comedy’s tradition, it provides the perfect showcase for stars of her renowned status. We are all thrilled”.

While the 30 Rock’s creator, executive and star, Tina Fey, also made a statement about Oprah being on the series, “Oprah is very funny in the episode, and we are beyond grateful to have her. Also, I would like to announce that we are officially best friends”.

54-year-old Oprah started her acting career in 1985 movie “The Color Purple”. It’s a movie that she’s so proud of, and often said on her show that the movie has changed her life. She earned immediate acclaim as Sofia, the distraught housewife from the movie.

The following year Winfrey was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, but lost the award to Anjelica Huston. So much in love with the movie, in late 2005, Winfrey acted as producer for the Brodaway version of the movie.

Oprah always had a passion for acting. And it’s a good thing she can heated up her passion again. Can’t wait for your performance Oprah!
