Heather Locklear Arrested for DUI

One of the former residents of “Melrose Place,” Heather Locklear, was arrested last Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the upscale Santa Barbara area, California.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Tom Marshall, “Around 4:30 p.m, a female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot in Montecito. The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times”.

The witness then came upon Locklear again on the road. The spokesman then added, “The citizen became concerned when Ms. Locklear exited her vehicle and stumbled into the traffic lane…the citizen called 911 and reported the entire incident to CHP Ventura Dispatch”.

Marshall also said, “The witness called 911 because she was concerned for Locklear’s safety. When a CHP officer arrived, Locklear was found seated inside her vehicle, which was partially blocking the roadway”. Locklear was pulled over where she had moved to the nearby Highway 192. Her car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane.

A CHP officer asked for her license, registration and proof of insurance and identified her as Heather Locklear. Upon the talking between Locklear and police officers that had arrived at the scene, the actress appeared “disoriented and impaired”. Because of that, she was taken to a local CHP station to take drug and alcohol tests. She was cooperative during the process.

A statement released by the CHP, “Although obvious impairment was exhibited during the tests, alcohol was ruled out as a factor, but based on the officer’s observations, we believe Locklear was under the influence of prescription medication”. She was booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication and taken to the Santa Barbara CHP office.

The statement also said, “She was evaluated by a drug recognition expert, who concluded Ms. Locklear was under the influence of a controlled substance, and could not safely operate a motor vehicle”. She was released at 11 p.m. Saturday on $5,000 bail. The actress’s lawyer, Blair Berk, wasn’t immediately available for comment, and Locklear’s publicist declined to comment on the arrest.

Locklear was very well known as the star of small screen. Her TV credits include “T.J. Hooker”, “Dynasty”, “Melrose Place” and “Spin City”. While her big screen roles include “The Perfect Man” and “Uptown Girls”. She was just finished filming “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” the film is currently in post-production.

In June, Locklear checked into a medical clinic in Arizona to seek treatment for anxiety and depression. She returned home a month later and reconciled her relationship with her only daughter, Ava Elizabeth, from her marriage to ex-husband Bon Jovi’s guitarist, Richie Sambora.

Hmmm… maybe Locklear needs another visit to the clinic?
