Singer M.I.A. is Pregnant

On Saturday, British singer M.I.A. had admitted that she is pregnant with her first child, and finally ending much rumors that has been circling last couple of weeks.

The singer from Sri Lankan descendant whose real name is Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam confirmed the news by saying, “I’m creating a baby. When I found out I was pregnant and ‘Paper Planes’ was in the iTunes top 10, it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window”. She also added, “I’ve got two kids, that’s what it feels like. And that’s the lesson – you can’t make plans”.

31-year-old M.I.A. and fiance Ben Brewer, lead singer and guitarist of The Exit, did not reveal when the baby is due or the gender, but they made sure their fans knew they are serious about having a child. “I got engaged first, then I got pregnant, kids”, said the mom-to-be.

M.I.A. is famous with her single “Paper Planes”. The song was recorded in New York and includes kids from Brixton singing on the chorus. It has unique part like the gun-popping sound, and it was particularly commercially successful in mid 2008. She is now reportedly busy recording some tracks for her new album, a follow up to 2008’s “Kala”. She’s planning to have a tour, but with her condition now, she wants to focus on the pregnancy.

Although she will still have a tour, a quite different kinda tour though. As she said, “I have to do the rounds – go see my family and show them the belly”. Congrats future mom and dad!
