The Beckhams are being stabbed in the back, kinda.

On Tuesday, media reported that two housekeepers working at the English mansion belonging to David Beckham and his wife Victoria have been arrested on suspicion of stealing memorabilia belonging to superstar husband and wife. Police confirmed they had arrested two people, “A 56-year-old woman from Essex and a 55-year-old man also from Essex have been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently on police bail.” They also added, “A 25-year-old man from Essex was arrested yesterday evening. He has been bailed to a police station in Hertfordshire in November”.

Eric and June Emmett denied any wrongdoing, also denied the accusation to their son, Gareth. “What is in the papers is fabricated nonsense. Totally fabricated, 99 percent of it is totally untrue,” Eric Emmett said. They are due to return to a police station on November 22.

It was started when the parents of Beckham’s wife, Victoria, alerted police after spotting items including Beckham’s boots and shirts for sale on Internet auction site eBay. Dresses belonging to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham were also reportedly for sale. Those items were stored at their 24-acre English mansion and estate, which dubbed “Beckingham Palace,” in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, about 30 miles to the northeast of London.

An eBay spokeswoman said the firm was working with police to establish which items were involved in the allegations. As she said in a statement, “We are working with Hertfordshire Police to establish the facts surrounding this alleged theft. eBay will not tolerate stolen and illegal items being listed on the site. If it transpires that our site was being used to list stolen goods then we will work with the police to press for the harshest penalties”. She then added, “Anyone stupid enough to try to sell anything that is not 100 percent legitimate makes a big mistake when they try to do it on our site”.

A source close to the couple said that the former England football captain and his singer-turn-designer wife have been shaken by the events. “This is not a happy episode for them, seeing their private possessions taken. They will try to move on from this”. While a spokesman for the pair said that since the matter was in the hands of police, he could not comment further.

The Beckhams currently live in a $22 million Beverly Hills mansion since David signed to join LA Galaxy soccer club, but maintain the Hertfordshire mansion, worth around eight million pounds, as a base in Britain. Hopefully, this problem will have a happy ending for the Becks.
