The Oprah Winfrey Show is in Spanish Now!

Oprah Winfrey
This is a good news for all señor and señorita, especially those who are fan of Oprah!
Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, said that the show is being made available in Spanish through Secondary Audio Programming and closed captioning. The Spanish-language offerings launched Monday in the country’s six largest Hispanic TV markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas. More cities are expected to be added this season.
Chicago-based Harpo Productions is picking up the cost of the translation service in order to boost its Hispanic audience. A spokeswoman for the company, Angela DePaul said that the breakthrough allows Harpo to serve the fastest growing demographic of the U.S. population. Advertising spots remain the same, and the show’s syndication fees are locked in through 2011.
The Oprah Winfrey Show has been running since 1986, and is now in its 23rd season, making it currently the longest-running daytime television talk show in the United States. It’s syndicated to 214 domestic stations and in 139 countries.
On September 8, 2008, the show began broadcasting in High Definition. Its 2008-09 season premiere episode was broadcast from Chicago’s Millenium Park and featured over 175 athletes from the U.S Olympic Team; including gold-medalists swimmer Michael Phelps, volleyball players Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.
Well Oprah, hopefully the Spanish version will be a gran éxito!
