In the seventh season of the popular ABC dancing competition, this 37-year-old TV personality had been crowned as the latest Dancing with the Stars champion. Burke and her professional partner, Derek Hough, won the title over former NFL player Warren Sapp and former ‘NSync member Lance Bass.
After being announced as the winner, “Unbelievable,” was all Burke could say. While her partner, Hough said, “I actually can’t believe it. I really can’t. I honestly can’t. The journey’s been so long. It’s been tough. It’s been wonderful. It’s been everything I could ever hope for. Wow. I can’t believe we actually did it, girl.”
On Tuesday night finale, Burke reprised an emotional Viennese waltz routine that earned her a perfect score from the show’s panel of judges. She was coming in first place eight out of 10 times and receiving a 10 — the judges’ top score — 16 times. Burke and Hough’s scores was 88 out of 90, that were later combined with viewers’ votes.
Burke, the former Rock Star host, maintained an eight point lead over Sapp. But he still managed to make his way into second place with professional partner Kym Johnson, despite receiving only one point less from the judges than the third place finisher, 29-year-old singer Bass. One of the judges, Len Goodman told Sapp, “From the moment you start, you make me smile.”
On the other hand, Bass and his professional partner, Lacey Schwimmer, were still feel blessed although placed in third place. Bass will also continue his passion for dancing. He will join professional dancers and join in the squad of other former contestants for the 38-city Dancing with the Stars tour, which is set to kick off December 17 in San Diego. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba praised Bass during hid finale performance, “You never took the safe road once.”
