Solving crime cases maybe easier than solving marriage problems. Ask that to Marg Helgenberger.

The 50-year-old actress who played Catherine Willows in crime drama series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, has announced her separation from her husband of nearly 20 years, actor Alan Rosenberg, 57.

Helgenberger’s rep said in a statement, “After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart. They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family.”

The couple met each other back in 1984, when Rosenberg guest starring on Ryan’s Hope, a soap opera where Helgenberger was one of the many characters that had been recast.

They started dating in 1986, and then got married in 1989. They have one son who is now an 18-year-old, Hugh Howard Rosenberg. He was named after Helgenberger’s late father, Hugh Helgenberger.

Other than CSI, Helgenberger also appeared in movies. Her latest was 2007’s Mr. Brooks, alongside Kevin Costner. While Rosenberg, beside an actor, he is also president of the 120,000-member Screen Actors Guild.

It’s too bad they separated…, but hopefully, the decision taken was the best for both…
