She might be a beginner in book writing’s world, and a newcomer when it comes to book signing occasion. But she obviously didn’t expect to have a new experience being trapped in an elevator.

The former Ginger Spice had to be rescued by firemen after she was trapped for an hour at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex when the service elevator broke down. Geri Halliwell, 35, was due to sign copies of her children’s book Ugenia Lavender, about a red-headed nine-year-old schoolgirl who likes mysteries and adventures.

Waiting fans and photographers were told that there had been “an incident” but had no idea that the singer was having an adventure of her own. When Miss Halliwell was eventually released, she explained the delay by telling the waiting children: “I got stuck in a lift”.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said that they found Gery Halliwell in the stranded lift with four other people had been a surprise. Sub Officer Dan Hyatt said: “Geri thanked us all for our help and was a really nice lady. There were loads of fans waiting for her so we were glad that we were able to get her out quickly so she could go and meet them”.

Ugenia Lavender is the 1st series of six books aimed at five to eight-year-olds inspired by Gery Halliwell’s pregnancy with Madonna’s daughter Bluebell. The character in this books is a fictional girl version of herself and the stories have been highly anticipated since she signed a deal with publishers Macmillan in 2008. She said to the BBC last month: “I’ve really pulled myself into it. I actually feel like she (Ugenia) is a rebirth of girl power”.

Phew! those incident sometimes are so unpredictable. but Thank God she’s okay! Go Girl Power!
