Jett Travolta Died Because of Seizure Disorder

The cause of death of John Travolta’s 16-year-old son, had finally being confirmed after an autopsy. Jett Travolta died from what the Doctors called “seizure disorder”.

A Bahamas funeral home official said on Monday that Jett Travolta was killed by a “seizure”, after pathologists performed an autopsy on the teenage boy’s body. It was also issued in a statement that his body showed no signs of head trauma, just like mortician Glen Campbell of the Restview Memorial Mortuary said, “The body was in good condition.”

Jett Travolta was last seen on New Year’s Day when he went to use the bathroom at the family’s residence at the Old Bahama Bay Resort on Grand Bahama Island. He was found unconscious in a bathroom on the next day (Friday morning) by a caretaker. Efforts were taken to revive him, including an attempt at CPR by John Travolta, his own father, but did not succeed. Jett was pronounced dead after being taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport.

Since he was a toddler, Jett Travolta had a history of seizures. Travolta’s lawyers, Michael Ossi and Michael McDermott, were quoted on Sunday as saying Jett apparently suffered from grand mal seizures, which can cause loss of consciousness, and the one he got on Friday was the fatal one. Bahamian authorities did not make public the results of the autopsy, which was observed by Travolta’s family doctor. It was only said that the death certificate listed “seizure” as the cause of death, and there was no foul play. And because of that, the body was released immediately to the Travolta family.

Keith McSweeney, funeral director for the Restview Memorial Mortuary, confirmed that Jett’s body is being cremated. “The remains will be turned over to his family tomorrow,” he said. A funeral service was expected Wednesday in Ocala, Florida, where the Travoltas lives. Jett was the only son of 54-year-old Travolta and his actress wife, 46-year-old Kelly Preston. The couple also have an eight-year-old daughter, Ella.

The celebrity couple issued a statement on Sunday, saying, “Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives.” They also thanked the fans, “We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us.”
