It’s a one step closer for the Oscar!

Although Heath Ledger is no longer be with us, his acting legacy left something that is definitely memorable. The late actor was named as a Golden Globe winner, as best supporting dramatic actor for his role as the Joker in the superhero movie The Dark Knight.

The award was presented by Demi Moore, who announced that a brief clip of Ledger’s work in the film had been prepared. Afterwards, The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan accepted Ledger’s posthumous award, and said he did so with “a mixture of sadness and incredible pride.” Nolan also added that rather than dwelling upon the gap left by Ledger’s death he preferred to concentrate on “the incredible place in the history of world cinema he built for himself.”

Not only Ledger who had the honor of the night.

Actress Sally Hawkins couldn’t believe that she was named best actress in a comedy or musical, especially learning that she was nominated between”goddesses” -that’s what she called them-, a quite appropriate ‘nickname’ for Meryl Streep, Frances McDormand and Emma Thompson. Hawkins wins the award for her role as a North London schoolteacher in the comedy Happy-Go-Lucky. Beside Hawkins, Kate Winslet shared the joy as she was the first name who received the Globe as best supporting actress for The Reader. It’s a big night for Winslet, because she received another Globe, as best leading actress in the drama Revolutionary Road.

In the movie section, Slumdog Millionaire was named best dramatic picture. The movie tells about about a young man in India whose arduous life unfolds during his stint on his country’s version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and also experienced the journey to find his love. Millionaire also took home Globes for its director Danny Boyle, as well as for its original score and screenplay.

A great night indeed. Congrats for all the winners!
