Johnny Knoxville Got Detained For Bringing Grenade

Johnny Knoxville got detained by authorities on Thursday for allegedly bringing a grenade into Los Angeles International Airport. As LAX’s Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb explained about the mishap, “As he was being screened, security noticed an image of a hand grenade in his carry-on. Airport police and the bomb squad were called, and it was determined there were no explosives or firing pin.”

Knoxville was later released and allowed to board an American Airlines flight to Miami, but that’s not the end of the story. Prosecutors will later decide whether to charge 38-year-old Knoxville or not with bringing a prohibited item into a secure area of the airport. If they decided to continuing this case, he will be charged with a misdemeanor.

Police said that Knoxville, whose real name is Philip John Clapp, remained cooperative throughout the ordeal and he claimed the entire incident was a big misunderstanding and that he never intended to cause a scare at LAX. Holcomb added, “He told police it was a prop from a photo shoot and he completely forgot it was in his bag.”

Besides became a household name in Jackass, Knoxville had appeared in other movies too. He starred in Big Trouble, Deuces Wild and The Dukes of Hazzard alongside Jessica Simpson. This year, Knoxville is reportedly will appear in a comedy entitled Hawaiian Dick and Jackass 3 that is still in progress.
