Chris Brown and His Domestic Assault Case

It should have been an awesome night at The Grammys, but the opposite thing happened to Chris Brown (and his longtime girlfriend, Rihanna).

Shocking news came when 19-year-old Chris Brown was arrested and charged with an alleged assault of an unidentified woman on Sunday. Although Los Angeles police would not confirm the name of the victim, but both Brown and Rihanna missed their performances at Sunday’s 51st Grammy Awards. And because of their sudden cancellations, several media outlets speculated that Rihanna was the unidentified woman.

Brown was scheduled to perform his hit single Forever at the event, while Rihanna was set to sing Disturbia. But neither Rihanna nor Brown, were seen at the music award ceremony. A spokeswoman for Rihanna explained, “We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending the 51st Grammy Awards. We’re sorry she will not be performing this evening. We have no further information.” As from Brown’s camp, no explanations. Rihanna’s scheduled performance was finally filled with a duet between Justin Timberlake and soul legend Al Green.

According to Los Angeles Police Department, singer-songwriter Chris Brown turned himself in for questioning by police on Sunday. Later, he was booked on a charge of making criminal threats and released on $50,000 bail. A statement released by LAPD, saying the With You singer was being investigated for alleged domestic violence felony battery, and additional charges could be filed after officials review the case.

Police said Brown got into an argument with an unidentified woman while sitting in a parked car in the city’s Hancock Park neighborhood at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. An argument broke out between Brown and the woman, and then he allegedly stopped the vehicle. Both of them got out from the vehicle, and the argument escalated. Police also added details, “The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.”
