Chris Brown's Ad Was Suspended

Chris Brown's Ad Was Suspended

Chris Brown’s domestic violence case not only caused the Forever singer a shattered image, but also a great loss in his -supposedly- income.

As one of the effects of Chris Brown’s arrest, his ad campaign with chewing gum makers Wrigley was suspended Monday. The company stopping all ad and marketing campaigns tied to this 19-year-old heartthrob, who had been their Doublemint gum spokesman. As they said in a statement, “Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”

The singer also withdrew from appearances at the upcoming NBA All-Star Game that was actually scheduled for this weekend in Phoenix, as said in an e-mail by NBA spokesman Tim Frank. Brown is also one of many pitchmen (or women) for the Got Milk? campaign, in which celebrities are photographed with a milk mustache, that sends message to actively drink milk. His participation was scheduled to end this week, as planned, as said by The Milk Processor Education Program. Their spokesman stated, “The Milk Mustache campaign is taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously. We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens.”

The popular R&B singer was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attacking a woman, who was widely reported to be his singer girlfriend Rihanna. A statement released by the police on Sunday afternoon said Brown and an unidentified woman began arguing while riding in a car after attending a pre-Grammy party Saturday night. The fight escalated when car was allegedly stopped by Brown, and the couple got out of the car.

The woman was reportedly to have been left bruised, bleeding and even bitten in the attack. She was also reportedly hospitalized. Brown was booked on suspicion of making criminal threat, a felony. Legal sources said he could face up to three years in prison if convicted. Brown was later released from jail on $50,000 bail, while his rented silver Lambourghini remains impounded.

Rihanna’s publicist declined to say why the singer did not appear at the Grammys, but they issued a statement on Sunday saying: “Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support.” On the other hand, Brown’s representatives also refused to discuss the allegations or his arrest.

Although there is still no official confirmation about whether Rihanna was the victim or not, but sources have confirmed that it indeed was Rihanna, the 20-year-old Barbados-born beauty. Brown has been dating Rihanna for about a year, helped produce her album and were together doing music collaborations. That’s why it was so hard to believe this incident could happened.

Let’s just wait til another updates then. Keep on reading, people!
