The movie Slumdog Millionaire was titled suitably as it sweeps eight winning at the Oscar tonight, including the top honor, Best Picture.

Although the movie was actually an underdog movie, but it proved otherwise. Slumdog Millionaire is a British drama film about a little guy who appears on the Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” quiz. He exceeds people’s expectations, but then facing life’s enormous obstacles, as he also in the search for his love.

Set and filmed in the slums of Mumbai, India, the movie is an adaptation of the 2005 Prize-winning novel Q & A by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. It was nominated for ten nominations at the 81st Annual Academy Awards tonight, and won eight of them, had a ‘clean sweep’ of the night compare to other movies. The awards were included Best Director, Danny Boyle, and Best Picture.

While receiving the award for Best Picture, surrounded by all the cast and crew on stage, producer Christian Colson said beautifully in his speech, “As you can see, our film was a collaboration between hundreds of people, and I’m so happy that some of them could be with us here tonight to share this moment. When we started out, we had no stars, we had no power or muscle, we didn’t have enough money, really, to do what we wanted to do. Most of all we had passion and we had belief, and our film shows that if you have those two things, truly anything is possible.”

Director Danny Boyle also added, “My kids are too old to remember this now, but when they were much younger, I swore to them if this miracle ever happened I would proceed in the spirit of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, and that’s what that was -after he did three vigorous hops on stage-. I don’t know what it looks like on television, but in the room it’s bloody wonderful.” Boyle thanked his wife, kids, colleagues and the people of Mumbai.

Not only Slumdog Millionaire who had the best night, actress Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Sean Penn and the late Heath Ledger also shared the joy.
