Tweens and teens rule!

Miley Cyrus is back on top again this week, as her alter-ego character Hannah Montana resurfaced in the latest sequel of the franchise. Hannah Montana: The Movie got the number one spot at the weekend box office with an estimated $34 million opening. The outstanding result came from ticket sales only, according to Walt Disney on Sunday.

The movie that tells a story about an ordinary teen living a double life as pop star Hannah, drew $17.3 million on Friday for the biggest opening day ever for a G-rated live-action movie. As Disney distribution president Chuck Viane said about the film’s success, “What she pulled off here, based on tracking, is amazing. It’s a tribute to her and her fan base.”

It blew away past projections on whether the movie will be a success or not. It also stopped Fast & Furious race position, making the Vin Diesel starred action placed in number two.

Great job, Miley! Congrats!
