Cynthia Nixon of Sex and the City is Engaged

Red-haired actress, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend Christine Marinoni, will soon following Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s footsteps. The couple got engaged last month, and are planning to wed.

43-year-old Nixon announced the happy news last Sunday at a rally for gay marriage. The Sex and the City star participated the “Love, Peace and Marriage Equality” rally in New York City, together with co-star Kristin Davis and other famous names, such as; David Hyde Pierce, Audra McDonald and Ana Ortiz. The event was held to support New York Governor David Paterson’s proposed bill granting legal equality to same-sex unions. Nixon and Kristen were appeared on stage together, but did not gave speech.

The actress who played Miranda Hobbes in the HBO’s popular show has two children; 14-year-old Samantha and 8-year-old Charles, from her longtime companionship with photographer Danny Mozes. She began dating education activist Christine Marinoni in 2003. In an interview last year, Nixon expressed her intention to stepping up her relationship with Marinoni. She said, “I think we would definitely [get married] if it became legal in New York. I don’t really want to get married to get married pretend. I think we’d like to do it in a real, actual, legal way that the state would recognize.”

Beside getting engaged, Nixon and the gank of Sex and the City are now working on a sequel of their box-office movie version from the series. It is slated to be released in theaters May 28, 2010. Congrats both Cynthia and Christine!
