Penelope Cruz Suffered from Food Poisoning in Cannes

Oh oh, Penélope Cruz got herself some bad luck.

The Vicky Christina Barcelona actress missed the chance to participate on promoting her upcoming musical Nine in Cannes Monday, because she was reportedly suffered from some sort of food poisoning.

35-year-old Cruz was in France to premiere her latest movie Broken Embraces, a Spanish movie directed by Pedro Almodóvar. She was actually expected to present a trailer and a teaser for Nine together with Harvey Weinstein, but she didn’t feel so well. The health scare then shared by Weinstein, who said, “Tomorrow night is her premiere for her movie. She is getting better and is seeing a doctor right now.”

But, although Cruz could not join the rest of Nine cast, the event was filled with appearances of famous names and faces, such as; Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench, Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie, Daniel Day-Lewis and Sophia Loren.

Cotillard also said a few notes on the musical, saying, “It was an amazing adventure, it was my dream to be in an American musical. I really hope you are going to love what you are going to see.” Nine’s trailer is already swirling all over U.S., and the movie is planned to be released in theaters in November.

Thankfully, Cruz’s condition got better as she is able to attend the Hollywood Dominos event later Monday. She walked in without talking to the media and spent about 45 minutes at the party before leaving. Thank God you’re alright miss Penélope, be more careful next time!
