Angelina Jolie Beats Oprah Winfrey in Forbes Celebrity 100 List

Oprah Winfrey has No. 1 Talkshow in the U.S., but she doesn’t have the number one spot in the Forbes’ Celebrity 100 List anymore. Angelina Jolie has taken over her spot this year.

The Wanted actress is named as the world’s most powerful celebrity, by the annual survey published by Forbes magazine Wednesday. The Celebrity 100 list is based on income over the past 12 months as well as web references, press clippings, broadcast mentions and major magazine covers devoted to the celebrity.

33-year-old Jolie had earned $27 million between June 2008 and June 2009, a very small earnings compared to Oprah, but her appearances in tabloid covers and hit movies were enough to jump from no. 3 to no. 1 spot, and dethrone media maven Winfrey. Winfrey, on the other hand, is still the highest earner from the list, with $275 million.

The Material Girl singer, Madonna came in third, although she was absent from last year’s top ten. She got the third place with 110 million dollars. Madonna was followed by Beyoncé, with earnings of 87 million dollars. Next three spots were taken by Tiger Woods, Bruce Springsteen and Steven Spielberg. Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were at eighth and ninth place. Then Los Angeles Lakers superstar, Kobe Bryant rounding up the top ten.

President Barack Obama is also on the list, at no. 49. He is the first sitting head of state to appear on this Forbes fixture because of his worldwide fame, his historic election and his career as a best-selling author. British band Coldplay were the most powerful Brits on the list this year with a debut at the 15th spot, following a sold-out world tour and a smash hit album, Viva La Vida.

The list also includes some newcomers; Alec Baldwin (No. 91); Meryl Streep (No. 64); Toby Keith (No. 59); Rascal Flatts (No. 42); TV host Glenn Beck (No. 81); and teen singing superstar Taylor Swift (No. 69).
