Kris Allen Signs a Record Deal

Another news about this year’s winner of American Idol, Kris Allen.

The 23-year-old crooner has signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings via Jive Records. With this progress, Allen will soon be releasing his debut album, which is due this fall. When asked about his future album after inked the deal on Monday, Allen said, “Everyone’s been asking me what it’s going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show — definitely in the pop/rock genre.”

The executive producer of American Idol and chief executive of 19 Entertainment, Simon Fuller said about Allen, that he won fans with his soulful voice, good looks and gracious demeanor, but his passion for music performing will make him a star.

Arkansas native, Allen is already enjoying success. His first single, the Idol coronation song, No Boundaries is currently No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Next month Allen will also be busy, performing in the 50-city for American Idol 2009 Summer Tour.

Allen once said on an interview after the Idol finale, “I felt like I did exactly what I wanted to do on the show that I would want to do on a record. When I went on the show and did ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ I felt that was the kind of stuff that I wanted to do—stuff that kind of moves people and has that feeling.”
