Idol Runner-Up Adam Lambert Admitted He’s Gay

Adam Lambert Admitted He's Gay
It took an extraordinary boldness for Adam Lambert to finally came out of the closet.
This year’s American Idol runner-up confirmed that he is gay in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, ending the guessing game over his sexual orientation since he joined the contestants of the No. 1 U.S. TV talent show.
In a magazine that were released on Tuesday and due on newsstands Friday, 27-year-old Lambert said, “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay. I’ve been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I’ve been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner.” He also added, “I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”
Lambert was known for his falsetto singing, outlandish costumes, and his make-up wearing. He was nicknamed “Glambert” by the AI fans, and being called as “the most exciting ‘American Idol’ contestant in years” by Entertainment Weekly magazine. Judges were wowed by his extraordinary vocal range.
His sexuality had been talk about during the competition, and even brought up (probably) as one of the reasons why Lambert finished runner-up to clean-cut Kris Allen last month. Lambert is not the first gay in American Idol history. 2003’s runner-up Idol, Clay Aiken hid his sexuality for years after his run on the show, but then coming out as gay in 2008.
This is not the only news from Lambert. On the same day, producer 19 Recordings said it had signed Lambert to a record contract and that his debut album will likely be released in the fall through RCA Records. The announcement came a day after 19 Recordings said it had signed Kris Allen to a record deal.
Although the competition is done, but it looks like Lambert and Allen will still be competing in the harsh world of music and recording. Best of luck for both!
