Ryan O’Neal Will Marry Cancer-Stricken Farrah Fawcett

After a very long waiting, and those never-give-up proposals, one of the Charlie’s Angels, Farrah Fawcett finally agrees to marry her longtime companion, Ryan O’Neal.

In an interview with Barbara Walters for this Friday’s show of 20/20, the happy groom-to-be said, “I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed.” Although Fawcett is getting closer the end of her life after a long battle with cancer, but that doesn’t stop the holy union they’re about to make.

68-year-old O’Neal has revealed that his long-time love is “fighting for her life,” since battling anal cancer for three years. He also told Walters he once asked Fawcett to marry him “all the time,” and it became somewhat of a joke. But now the agreement was real — “I promise you, we will,” he said.

O’Neal and 62-year-old Fawcett have been romantically involved off-and-on since 1982. The couple have a son together, Redmond O’Neal, but have never married. O’Neal has been a constant presence at Fawcett’s side since news of her illness broke. In May, O’Neal was tearfully talking to U.S. TV shows and magazines about her cancer ahead of a heart-wrenching video diary, “Farrah’s Story,” that was broadcast in May.

Last month, the actor said in another interview that Fawcett’s cancer had spread to her liver and that her treatment had effectively ended. “It’s a love story. I just don’t know how to play this one. I won’t know this world without her. Cancer is an insidious enemy.”

It is a love story, a deep and heartwarming one. May love be the greatest bond for you both, Ryan and Farrah, congratulations for the upcoming wedding!
