Kate and Jon Gosselin Are Going to Divorce

If you are, then this news is a nightmare came true. The couple announced their separation, and are getting divorce on an hour-long special broadcast of their show last night.

After months of speculation, and after 10 years of marriage, Kate and Jon Gosselin’s journey has come to an end. They will separate on the same day that Kate filed for divorce in a Pennsylvania court, Monday afternoon.

As Kate said in a statement, “Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children. While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children.”

Jon also released a statement of his own, saying that his wife was the first to make a legal move. “This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that.”

It was started in February, when photos surfaced of Jon in the company of young women during a solo visit to see his mother, who was recuperating from surgery, in Huntingdon, Pa. The couple denied the rumors, but in May, the scandal was on again after 23-year-old Deanna Hummel was photographed driving Jon’s car home from a bar late at night. On the other side, Kate herself was also rumored having a relationship with her bodyguard.

This divorce news comes several days after Jon was spotted apartment hunting in New York. He and Kate have been spending the majority of their time apart over the past month, with Jon sticking closer to their suburban Pennsylania home while Kate took the kids on vacation in North Carolina. Jon also spotted playing with his brood at the family home on Father’s day, where he told reporters he didn’t know where Kate was.

A weekend before that, Jon and Kate didn’t even bother to meet up and celebrate their 10th anniversary on June 12. Jon added in his statement, “This will be a difficult transition for all of us. but Kate and I will work out a schedule that enables our kids to have plenty of quality time with both of us at home in Pennsylvania. In terms of my marriage, it’s no secret that the past six months or so have been very difficult for Kate and me. We are no different than other couples and parents who are facing a crossroads in their marriage. I am of course deeply saddened that we are divorcing.”

Although it is very sad, but hopefully they will stay close and be good to each other for the sake of their children; 8-year-old twins, Cara and Madelyn, and 5-year-old sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.
