Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Hail to the Alien Robots! As they are now the kings of Box-Office!
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel of 2007’s Transformers, rakes in $200 million in domestic ticket sales in just five days. According to Sunday estimates from Paramount, the movie took $112 million in the first weekend and $201.2 million since opening Wednesday.
That was a few million dollars higher than other studios were expecting for the action movie, and the figures was well on the way to becoming the year’s top-grossing movie. From all over the world, the movie that’s distributed by DreamWorks also added $185.8 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $387 million.
With that awesome figures, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was in second place behind last summer’s The Dark Knight with $203.8 million. Again, in just five days! This was the biggest opening weekend of this year, surpassing the $85.1 million debut of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in early May.
Paul Dergarabedian, a box-office analyst for Hollywood.com shared his thoughts on the movie’s director, Michael Bay. As he said, “Michael Bay knows how to build the perfect summer box-office beast. He squarely aimed right at the demographic, right at what summer movie-goers want, and he put it on the screen. And audiences can’t seem to get enough of it.”
Way to go, Autobots!
