Mischa Barton Was Hospitalized

Former star of The O.C., Mischa Barton, reportedly has been hospitalized in Los Angeles for psychiatric observation.

It is said that 23-year-old Barton was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday, after police placed her under an involuntary psychiatric hold. About the news, a spokesman for Barton said the actress was “safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor.” But he didn’t give any further comments.

According to an unidentified source, Barton was placed under Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code by police and transported to Cedars-Sinai. It was the same section where pop princess Britney Spears was placed twice in 2008 during her highly public meltdown.

This is not the first time the London-born actress got hospitalized. In 2007, Barton was briefly hospitalized for what a spokesperson described as a bad reaction to medication. She also got into a different trouble last year, involved in DUI case and then pleaded no contest to drunken driving in Los Angeles, which later resulted in three years probation.
