24 actor, Kiefer Sutherland, should be celebrating right now… because his legal troubles for allegedly head-butting a fashion designer in a New York City nightclub are over.
On Tuesday, the Manhattan district attorney’s spokeswoman said that the misdemeanor assault charges against Sutherland are being dropped because the alleged victim wouldn’t cooperate with prosecutors. It was decided after the New York District Attorney declined to pursue criminal charges against the actor.
42-year-old Sutherland had spent 48 days in jail after his 2007 arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol in Los Angeles, and with this incident, a question raised of whether Sutherland would be charged for violating his probation or not. But thankfully, more to add on the happy news, the charges was also not serious enough to violate his probation.
The incident happened in May, when fashion designer Jack McCollough told police Sutherland had headbutted him and broke his nose at a hotel bar in the Soho area of New York. Sutherland was arrested, but then released while authorities investigated.
Both parties issued a joint statement a few weeks later saying they had resolved their differences. The Phone Booth star also apologized to McCollough in the statement. Looks like they’ve come to an understanding together, so you can breathe more easily now, Mr. Bauer!
