Almost a month after Michael Jackon’s death, fingers apparently now pointed to the King of Pop’s doctor, with the progress of the death’s investigation focusing on manslaughter.

With a search warrant, U.S. drug enforcement agents and Los Angeles police on Wednesday raided a Houston clinic owned by Conrad Murray, the doctor who was with pop icon Michael Jackson when he died.

According to Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, the raid was held to look for evidence of manslaughter, and was conducted by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, two detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide division and officers from the Houston Police Department. In a statement, Chernoff said, “We reviewed the warrant and remained on the premises while the search was being executed. The search warrant authorized law enforcement to search for and seize items, including documents, they believed constituted evidence of the offense of manslaughter.”

A spokeswoman for Los Angeles police confirmed that their detectives served the warrant with the assistance of the DEA, but declined to say what investigators were looking for. While another unnamed law enforcement official said the focus of the search was propofol, an anesthetic also known as Diprivan, which has repeatedly been named in media reports as a drug Jackson was said to be taking before he died on June 25.

Chernoff then added that forensic image of a business computer hard drive and 21 documents are among the items which were taken. “None of the documents taken had previously been requested by law enforcement or the L.A. Coroner’s office,” Chernoff later said. A Houston Police Department officer told a crowd of reporters and onlookers outside, “They cooperated fully.”

Murray was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician ahead of the London concerts. He was with Jackson when he was stricken last month at home, but has denied any wrongdoing, saying that he did not inject the singer with painkillers before his cardiac arrest. After questioning Murray back in June, Chernoff’s law firm issued a statement saying at the time, that: “Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy.”

In the name of investigation, the L.A. coroner also has subpoenaed Jackson’s medical records from his former nutritionist, Cherilyn Lee, who worked with him from January to April this year. Authorities interviewed Lee on Wednesday about conversations she had with Jackson.

It looks like the case is even bigger that we thought it was. Stay tune here for more developments!
