Last Saturday, a British tabloid, News of the World reported that the godfather of Michael Jackson’s three children, and also Jackson’s longtime friend, Mark Lester claimed to be the biological father of the singer’s daughter Paris.
Lester was quoted saying that he “gave Michael my sperm so that he could have kids — and I believe Paris is my daughter.” The 51-year-old former child star also said that he’s willing to take a paternity test. He was recorded on a video interview saying “She’s the birth mother of the children so I naturally assumed the sperm donation would obviously have gone into Debbie and Debbie would have borne the children.” The actor who was known for his role as Oliver Twist in the 1968 film musical Oliver! added that the 11-year-old Paris resembled his own 15-year-old daughter Harriet.
Jackson and Lester became friends 27 years ago when Jackson’s manager told Lester the singer wanted to meet him. Then in 1996, Jackson confided in him in saying that he was desperate to be a father. Apparently Michael was a bit envy of Lester who was also 37 at the time but already had three children.
According to Lester, after both agreed, the sperm donation was arranged through a clinic in Harley Street, London, in February 1996. Eight months later, Jackson announced he had married nurse Debbie Rowe and three months later, the couple revealed the birth of Prince. Paris was born just over a year later, in April 1998.
But today, sources very close to the Jackson family said that Lester has never claimed to be Paris’s father, although they admitted that they have known about the sperm donation. One close family source said, “They twisted his words around. He’s not claiming to be the father of Paris Jackson.” Longtime Jackson family associate and past lawyer Brian Oxman also backed up, saying, “He has known Michael for many years and his children play with Michael’s children.” Oxman added that Lester had never hinted he was Paris’s father.
Jackson family attorney Londell McMillan responded to the story, saying that is just another unproven and meaningless claim, and the probate court has no reason to go against its finding that the late King of Pop is father to all three of his kids. McMillan said, “These are just merely claims with no legal standing whatsoever.”
Contradiction about Michael Jackson’s paternity has increasingly more since the Heal the World singer’s death. Who’s telling the truth? Hmm… maybe we’ll see in the upcoming updates. Stay tune here!
