Tila Tequila Hospitalized After Being Attacked by Boyfriend

Reality star, Tila Tequila had an unfortunate event on her love life.

She was hospitalized early Sunday following an altercation with her San Diego Chargers boyfriend, Shawne Merriman. And according to officials from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, 27-year-old Tequila -whose real name is Tila Nguyen- has accused Merriman of choking her.

Early Sunday morning, around 3:45 a.m., deputies were called to Merriman’s residence in Poway, California, by Tequila. When the authorities arrived, she claimed she was choked when she tried to leave, and also being restrained by Merriman. Nguyen then signed a citizen’s arrest warrant accusing the NFL linebacker of battery and false imprisonment.

25-year-old Merriman remains in custody at the San Diego County Jail, and Lt. Gary Steadman of Sheriff office said the results of an investigation will be given to the district attorney’s office, which will decide whether to charge the football star. Rep for Nguyen declined to discuss her condition although reports said she was taken to Pomerado Hospital. The rep also said that Nguyen would have no comment on the incident at this time.

Tila Tequila got her fame while appearing on MTV’s A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. She was dubbed the “Bisexual Bachelorette,” appeared in two seasons of the reality dating show, starting in 2007.
