Actress Lindsay Lohan has been appointed by The House of Ungaro as it’s newest artistic adviser.
According to Ungaro’s president Mounir Moufarrige, Lohan will be paired with new chief designer Estrella Archs, who replaces Esteban Cortazar. The 23-year-old actress/singer will acted like a ‘muse’ and giving ideas to the designer. “She’s a super consumer and super consumers have ideas to contribute to the elaboration of a collection. The brand is getting an electro-shock treatment,” he said.
Moufarrige continued, “Twenty first century muses are extroverts whose personal style and experience gives them a strong creative and artistic focus. Thus was our vision of combining the eye of a fashion creator with the eye of the ultimate luxury consumer, a celebrity. Lindsay is a world consumer with a clear eye for fashion.”
When asked why Lohan was chosen despite her ‘bad girl’ reputation, Moufarrige said he isn’t concerned about Lohan’s notorious image, “I don’t know any celebrities who doesn’t have controversy. You look at Marilyn Monroe or Marlene Dietrich. Ungaro was controversial himself, he said he dressed women to seduce men.”
The Mean Girls star is not a newcomer in fashion industry. She already sells her own line of leggings called 6126. Lohan said her role as adviser has included combing through her wardrobe and putting together several head-to-toe looks so Moufarrige and Archs could get a sense of her style. She also offered her own sketches. “It’s a team effort,” she said.
Archs and Lohan’s collaboration will be called as a new consumer-led business model, a collaboration that will be featured on Ungaro’s spring/summer 2010 collection due to be unveiled at Paris Fashion Week in October. Moufarrige explained, “A designer only-led fashion house isn’t enough, so we’re adding a super consumer who gives us a direct channel to consumers.”
Well, you’re a lucky girl, Lindsay!
