Ashlee & Pete Officially Engaged!

The little sister of Jessica “Daisy Duke” Simpson, ms. Ashlee Simpson, announcing her engagement yesterday with Pete Wentz, bassist of emo-rock band Fall Out Boy. She wrote on FOE about the news: “We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”

They started the relationship in late 2006, and speculation about the engagement has been building up since February, where Simpson were seen with a diamond ring on her finger. she labeled it as a “promise ring”. but apparently now they’re ready enough to take the next step.

Simpson’s father (and a manager), Joe Simpson, reportedly thrilled about the news and happy to have Wentz as part of the family.

Simpson will also soon releasing her third album, Bittersweet World, on April 22, 2008. Her singles, “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)” and “Rulebreaker” have received a warm welcome from the fans. While her hubby-to-be, along with the band, has just finished the “Young Wild Things Tour”, together with other bands like Plain White T’s, Cute Is What We Aim For, and Gym Class Heroes.
