Sad news coming from The Backstreet Boys. The Florida-originated boyband have been forced to cancel their New York City promotional tour because member Brian Litrell has been diagnosed with the swine flu.

The group was supposed to appear at New York’s Hard Rock Cafe on Monday for the NYC PINKTOBER event to promote their latest album -which in stores today-, This Is Us. But because of this health scare, they have to withdrawn themselves from the event and also unable to perform on CBS’s The Early Show, that was supposedly being done to introduce their new single, Straight Through My Heart.

In a statement released yesterday, 34-year-old Littrell said, “We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program. I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”

But do not so disappointed, because thankfully, the other three members (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean) have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms. As a preventive measure, the doctor prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the U.S. from Tokyo. And although no other details about the Backstreet Boys’ promotional schedule, but the canceled performance were said will be rescheduled for a later date.

So, for all BSB fans: don’t forget to buy their latest album! and for Brian: get well soon!
