Jennifer Lopez can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.
There’s a light on a dark tunnel for Jennifer Lopez, as a judge on Monday blocked Lopez’s first husband, Ojani Noa, from distributing intimate home videos of the couple as part of an upcoming movie.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, James C. Chalfant issued a temporary restraining order blocking distribution of the proposed movie, planned to be titled The J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story.
The order is in effect until a hearing on whether to extend it is completed. The full hearing on the matter was scheduled to resume Tuesday. Noa, who came to court on Monday without an attorney, said that he was not dissuaded by the judge’s ruling, and he’s going to fight it.
As we reported yesterday, Lopez filed a lawsuit against Noa on Friday, claiming he breached a prior confidentiality agreement by intending to sell a movie containing hours of home video footage, including some showing Lopez in sexual situations on their 1997 honeymoon. She sued Noa for $10 million in damages and a court order permanently blocking dissemination of any video showing her and Noa in intimate situations.
This is not the first time Lopez involved in similar case against Noa. In 2006, the Maid in Manhattan actress sued Noa over his plans to publish a tell-all book about their life, claiming the book would violate the nondisclosure, “non-disparagement” agreement the two had previously reached. It resulted in a California judge ordering Noa to pay Lopez $545,000 for breach of contract.
In addition to Noa, the judge’s order on Monday temporarily blocking distribution of the film applies to movie producer and Noa’s manager, Ed Meyer. Meyer’s attorney, Frank Sanes Jr., argued that his client was not bound by Noa’s confidentiality agreement and shouldn’t be subject to the restraining order, but unsuccessful.
Hopefully the case will solved nicely between both parties. Good luck, Jennifer!
