Nicole Richie Recovers from Pneumonia

A hectic lifestyle might be a bit too much for Simple Life actress Nicole Richie. She has been treated in the hospital in Los Angeles, USA since Wednesday. Recovery is on the way.

Admitted herself into the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the 28-year-old was diagnosed with a serious case of pneumonia.

One of Richie’s friends told the press that she had been ill for a while; she has experienced aches since November 9. “Nicole didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but she was exhausted and couldn’t take care of Harlow and Sparrow the way she normally does. She spent most days in bed, and the kids were brought in to her, since she was feeling so bad.”

Richie’s partner and lead vocalist of rock band Good Charlotte, Joel Madden, was out of town the first week Richie was sick. He was working with his brother, Benji Madden. “When he got back he was worried and realized she didn’t have just a little flu bug,” said the friend.

Such a state may be caused by Richie’s hectic days. “She really is a stay-at-home mom with the kids all day long and then she goes to work on her House of Harlow line,” said the friend. “She puts the kids to bed and then has a little quiet time to herself around 9 pm. All the work and nonstop going out has been a lot for her after giving birth.”

The adopted daughter of soul singer Lionel Richie gave birth to her second child, Sparrow, in September. She is said to respond well to the treatment. “She’s doing better and getting great care. It’s time for a speedy recovery.”
