Country singer Garth Brooks felt betrayed.
The Unanswered Prayers singer had filed a half-million dollar lawsuit against a hospital in the Oklahoma town where he was raised, claiming a donation he made wasn’t used the way it was intended.
About four years ago, 47-year-old Brooks gave Integris Canadian Valley Regional hospital in Yukon, Oklahoma, the half million dollars to finance a building that would bear the name of his mother, Colleen Brooks, who died of cancer in 1999.
The hospital reportedly spent $27 million in renovations last year, but there was still no sign of the building named after the country crooner’s mother.
According to the lawsuit that was filed in September in Rogers County District Court in Oklahoma, Brooks is suing the medical center for $500,000 as a result. In short, he wants his money back.
A spokesperson for the hospital told media outlets that it was simply a misunderstanding, and that the hospital was optimistic that it will come to a swift and amicable end. Meanwhile, a source close to Brooks said the entire ordeal has left the singer emotionally rattled.
Let’s just wait and see for the development then…
