Wedding bells will soon be heard for Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, as they are now engaged to be married.

The former American Idol champ and Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher got engaged Sunday, after dating for about a year. Underwood’s publicist, Jessie Schmidt confirmed the news on Monday, saying that the couple couldn’t be happier.

No further details were shared, such as whether a wedding date has been set for the couple. But the 29-year-old athlete said in an interview that he and his now-fiancee were both obviously excited and very happy.

26-year-old Underwood and Fisher were hooked up by friends following one of her concerts in Toronto. They have managed to kept their relationship on the down low, but the country singer couldn’t resist to gave a shout out to her beau in the liner notes of her current album, Play On, that was released November 3. She wrote, “Thank you (No.) 12 (referring to his jersey number.) You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way!”
