Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins Split

As the year 2009 is getting closer to the end, the relationship of Hollywood couple Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins is also ended.

The sad news was delivered by the actress’s publicist, Teal Cannaday, who said in a statement on Wednesday, “Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer. No further comments will be made.”

62-year-old Sarandon and 51-year-old Robbins reportedly separated over the summer after being together for more than two decades, but never married. The former couple met while filming the minor-league baseball classic Bull Durham in 1988, where Robbins played a hotshot pitcher, and Sarandon was the passionate fan who simultaneously seduced him and prepared him for the big leagues.

They have two sons together, 20-year-old Jack and 17-year-old Miles. Sarandon also has a daughter, 24-year-old actress Eva Amurri, from another relationship. They have been dubbed as one of Hollywood’s most enduring power couples, and sometimes being compared to other longtime Hollywood pairs who remain committed despite never officially tying the knot, such as Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

They were on-screen together for other movies too, such as Dead Man Walking, the thriller Cradle Will Rock and the political satire Bob Roberts. Sarandon is also known for her role in Thelma and Louise and will soon be seen in The Lovely Bones.

Meanwhile, Robbins had appeared in several movies, such as Shawshank Redemption, and won an Oscar for best supporting actor category in 2003 for his performance in Clint Eastwood drama Mystic River. Robbins last appeared in 2008′s City of Ember.
