Five time’s -could be- a charm for Redmond O’Neal.

The 25-year-old son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett is going back to rehab, as his release from prison has been approved by a Los Angeles judge. Redmond had spent more than a month behind bars, and now got a chance to sober up with a probation.

Redmond was in court Tuesday for his December arrest when he was caught allegedly under the influence and violating his day pass from a court-mandated treatment center. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan approved his release from jail and sentenced to an intense residential rehab program.

Once transferred to the rehabilitation facility, he will spend up to 12 months there. And if his rehab stay is successful, he will be moved to a sober-living facility. An attorney for O’Neal, Richard Pintal said that his client made ‘considerable’ progress during his time in jail, and deserves a second shot at rehab. The judge also noted that his new program will be ‘justifiably’ severe.

O’Neal is expected back in court March 3 so a judge can check on his progress. Should he complete the treatment successfully, his sentencing for pending drug charges will be postponed and eventually dismissed.

Well then… good luck with your rehab time, Redmond!
