The Vatican Bans Tom Hanks for making Da Vinci Code’s Prequel
The making of The Da Vinci Code back in 2006 has already causes some pro and contra worldwide, especially from the Vatican. And the same thing will be happen to the making of ‘Angels and Demons’, Da Vinci Code’s prequel.
Tom Hanks along with all crew and costars were banned by the diocese of Rome from filming inside its churches. Producers had requested permission to shoot in two of Rome’s historic churches, Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria, but they were denied. As said by spokesman Monsignor Marco Fibbi, “(the movie) does not conform to our views”.
As we quote from People, Monsignor Marco Fibbi also added, “It’s a film that treats religious issues in a way that contrasts with common religious sentiment. Normally we read the script but this time it was not necessary. The name Dan Brown was enough”.
The story of Angels and Demons, which also based on a Dan Brown best-seller, is controversially claimed that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and had children. Dan Brown wrote books that are controversial, especially because it has something to do with religion and people’s beliefs.
Even though the movie itself got good reviews, but so many others against it. Well, hopefully both parties will find mid way to solve the problem. Probably producers of the movie should spend some extra budget to build the historic churces’ replica to shoot the scenes. No pain no gain, right?!
