Alongside David Cook’s winning this 7th season of American Idol, a bit of contradicting news came from DC’s former roommate while in the competition, Luke Menard.

The battle of the Davids has been won by the big David. David Cook is who America chooses to be the new American Idol.

The 25-year-old guy who worked as a bartender before competing in American Idol, finally won the title, defeated 17-year-old high school student from Murray, Utah.

The two gave their best on Tuesday’s finale performance, and overall, Simon Cowell -known as the most-mean critics- praised Archuleta over Cook. David Archuleta was basically out-sang Cook’s performance that night. From all three songs he sang, each gave extra point, especially on his rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine. (more…)

Each week has passed by, and it’s getting closer to American Idol’s finale. This week performances, the last three contestants; David Archuleta, David Cook, and Syesha Mercado, sang three songs. One chosen by the judges, one chosen themselves and one picked by ‘Idol’ producers.

Being the only female left, Syesha also get the lower praise this week. After singing Peggy Lee’s Fever, Paula Abdul commented,”I just feel like it’s an interesting choice, but I’m not sure it shows me who Syesha is as an artist”. While Simon Cowell said, “Syesha, I think you will probably regret that decision tomorrow because you had a chance to prove you are a temporary recording artist with your own choice of song, Instead you did quite a lame cabaret performance”. It’s already hard to still be in a competition as competitive as American Idol, but it’s getting harder for David Archuleta because of his demanding (and disturbing) father, Jeff Archuleta.

The top 6 has been narrowed down to 5 this week, by sending home the Irish girl, Carly Smithson. Their performances on Tuesday night are singing tunes of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the famous name on Broadway. Although Carly herself giving a great performance, and got praised by the judges (even Simon), but apparently it doesn’t help smoothen her way to Top 5 next week. (more…)

Despite her great performance last night on American Idol, Kristy Lee Cook had to say goodbye this week. she sang “Forever” on Mariah Carey’s Theme this week, and the judges shared their positive comments. Even the diva herself once said that her favorite of the night was KLC. (more…)
